let’s just say they were not do a leisurely “I’ll just get to the tyre store and fix this ASAP” speed. They were doing a “I’ll daily commute on this spare until it explodes... and oh crap I’m late for work” speed

At the very least they could put space savers on all the way around and not be a weenie:

Slime and a compressor can save many people from this embarrassment — assuming it's not a sidewall puncture or full blowout, anyway.

I just imagine Bentley Continental drivers as being the sort of people who have juuuuuuuust enough money to buy that car and use it to make people think they're wealthier than they are, and as such don't pay much attention in the way of maintenance.

Maybe those that buy used ones, I'd guess.

I’ve had a Bentley Continental wheel sitting out in my shed for the last few years. It was left behind.. I wish I had something to do with it. That guy could probably use it.

Its true of almost all used luxury cars, really...to the first owner who pays a ton of money they’re special, to second and third buyers they’re just cars.

Yeah, I mean a Rolls carries more cache to me. Theres a guy up the street from me that had a Continental GT and his house is smaller than mine, which is just a raised ranch...I like that they care that much about the car, but still.

See, my experience has been the opposite. The people that have the dough to drive one of these cars new see them only as status symbols. Those that have to wait until the car is ten years old to afford it see them as more than just transportation. And there are a number of them who are complete tools because they drive a Bentley, even if it is an old one. Subset of a subset?
